General elections were supposed to be held in Ethiopia on 29 August 2020 to elect officials to the House of Peoples

‘ Representatives, but were delayed, supposedly due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Regional and municipal council elections were also planned to be held at the same time around the country.

Parliamentary elections were held in Ethiopia on 24 May 2015.

The result was a victory for the ruling EPRDF, which won 500 of the 547 seats.

The Government of Ethiopia is structured in a framework of a federal parliamentary republic,

whereby the Prime Minister is the head of government.

Executive power is exercised by the government. The prime minister is chosen by the parliament.

They are governed under the 1995 Constitution of Ethiopia.
